| Biography
|
Before taking a
Co-Directorship with responsibility for knowledge exchange
Sarah has held the posts of Research Liaison Officer and Manager
at CRFR.
Sarah’s background is in Sociology, and she has completed
an MSc in Community
Education and a MSc in Social Policy by Research.She had held
a variety of networking,
policy development and research roles in the voluntary sector
with Children in Scotland,
Learning Link Scotland and the Association of Chief Officers
of Scottish Voluntary Organisations.
Sarah combined this work with the role of Associate Lecturer
with the Open University, tutoring
on social science foundation and family policy courses.
Sarah’s role is to lead the Knowledge Exchange team which
facilitates ways in which research
on families and relationships can be widely used. This includes
liaising with non-academic
organisations and developing joint work; disseminating CRFR's
research and other research
relevant to families and relationships; developing a programme
of events and other opportunities
for dialogue between academics, policy makers and practitioners;
and developing CRFR's network
of those interested in families and relationship research. |

Research interests |
She is currently
combining her co-directorship with an ESRC funded PhD looking
at the process
assessing the impact of research on policy and practice. She
is an associate of the Research
Unit for Research Utilisation and a was member of the Scottish
Funding Council’s working group
on Knowledge Exchange and Public Policy. She is interested in
all aspects of research use and
knowledge to action, particularly social research, issues in
the co-production of research, assessing
impact ad approaches to research use which address complexity. |

Sarah works across
all CRFR projects and activities to develop and promote our
knowledge
exchange activities.
About Families
Sarah is part of the management team for our collaborative
project about families.
Centre for Population Change
Sarah is one of the leads in knowledge exchange for this UK-wide
project.
Timescapes
Sarah is currently part of the Knowledge Exchange Team of
the multi-site Timescapes project.
Growing up in Scotland
Sarah is a team member of the GUS dissemination team.
Evidence and Policy
Seminar Series
Together with Professor Kay Tisdall from CRFR and Professor
Sandra Nutley from the
Research Unit for Research Utilisation she held a European
NORFACE funded seminar series
on Evidence and Policy 2008-2009 which resulted in a Special
Issue of the journal Evidence and Policy
