Wednesday 7 December 2016 • 12.00pm – 2.00pm
CRFR meeting room, 23 Buccleuch Place, Edinburgh

Amy Chandler, The University of Edinburgh

This seminar explores the role of emotions in narratives about self-injury. Accounts of self-injury frame the practice as both intensely private, and relating to the communication of emotions. The talk will consider the role of authenticity and performance as a way of understanding the potentially contradictory meanings self-injury is said to have.
