Read the latest CRFR research briefing ‘Spaces for sharing? Challenges of providing emotional support online’.

As the Internet becomes as ever more important part of our daily lives, organisations providing emotional support through traditional channels (such as face-to-face and telephone) are moving online, or at least anticipating the need to do so. Drawing on a recent study of online trust and empathy in the context of extreme emotional distress, this briefing aims to highlight issues that will be of interest to potential providers and users of online ‘safe spaces’.

This Briefing was written by Dr Julie Brownlie, a CRFR Associate Researcher at the University of Edinburgh. The research was part of the EMoTICON programme.
