Men in mid-life (aged 35-55) are at higher risk of alcohol related harm and suicide compared to other groups. Alcohol is thought to be an important factor in many suicides (at least 50% in the UK). In 2015 a pilot study is using the ‘life grid’ to explore narratives of men in mid-life, who have experienced suicidal distress, looking in particular at the position of alcohol, both positive and negative.
