Project description This research explored relations between grandparents and teenage grandchildren. The study took this focus because little research is available on the range of help and support grandparents and older grandchildren provide to each other. Those involved discussed their past and current relationships, providing valuable insights into this important kinship relation. The study was comprised of two phases: the first year of this project was funded through a CRFR post-doctoral research fellowship and 9 months of additional funding was secured from the ESRC to continue the study. The experiences of grandchildren were concentrated upon in the first phase of the study. The second phase explored the experiences of grandparents in greater detail.
