Using research
Making research more accessible for use by academics, policy makers, practitioners, research
participants and the wider public is one of the aims of CRFR. We are one of the few research
centres with a team dedicated to knowledge exchange.
CRFR knowledge exchange activities
Publications
CRFR produces a range of publications from research reports
and a research briefing series
to posters and postcards. All publications are edited, presented
and designed to be accessible
to appropriate audiences. The Research
Briefing series includes research on families and
relationships
produced by our associates and outside partners. To see examples of CRFR
publications,
see Publications.
CRFR blogs
The CRFR Blog provides a space for discussion around issues relating to research and policy
about famlies and relationships. To join the debate, please see the blog.
Policy work
CRFR responds to evidence requests from Government and other bodies and monitors how
research and current policy developments relate. For examples, see CRFR policy work.
Knowledge exchange projects
CRFR hosts a number of projects whose primary aim
is knowledge exchange.
• Connect
in Care
Connect in Care provides an online resource to
support learning and practice development
across all settings in order to improve the quality
and experience of care for older people in
Scotland. CRFR hosts and helps to manage this project.
• Growing
up in Scotland
Growing up in Scotland (GUS) is a study that follows
the lives of a national sample of 8000
Scottish children from infancy through to their
teens. Alongside our partnership with ScotCen,
on the academic team for GUS, we host the GUS Dessemination
Officer. CRFR is contracted
to provide policy consultancy and dissemination activities.
• Evidence and Policy Seminar Series
CRFR organises a seminar series on Evidence
and Policy a number of other European Universities.
The seminars aim to advance international and
comparative understanding of the use of different
forms of knowledge and evidence in the policy
process through a process of sharing of ideas and
discussion across these jurisdictions.
Conferences and seminars
CRFR hosts a range of dissemination, discussion events for academics, policy makers and
practitioners. These cover topical issues and encourage debate and networking. For further
