Asian!MacAsian! Podcast
We are delighted to bring you news of a new podcast from Dr Guanyu Jason Ran (Lecturer at Edinburgh Napier, CRFR Associate Director) and Zijing Echo Wan (PhD Student, Edinburgh Napier).
Supported by 2023/24 Public Engagement Funds from Edinburgh Napier University, Asian!MacAsian! podcast has been created to address the issue of Scottish Asian’s under-representation in public media outlets.
Asian!MacAsian! podcast will bring together the Scottish public, its Asian communities, researchers, practitioners, politicians, and government officials, to present authentic narratives and interactions concerning social affairs relevant to its Asian population in various forms, including storytelling, interview, debate and discussion.
To do so, Asian!MacAsian! aims to promote the Scottish public’s culturally focused understanding of its Asian population, while also enhancing the Asian community’s sense of belonging and unity in Scotland. Ultimately, the podcast sets out to promote cross-cultural dialogue and social inclusion across different ethnoracial groups within the wider Scottish society, and further combat racism to achieve better racial and ethnic justice in Scotland.
Season one of the podcast focuses on “Asian Storytelling”, wherein different generations of Asians from a range of geographic and cultural origins will share with you the stories about their culture, family dynamics, and friendships alongside the migration process as well as migration journey settling in Scotland. You can listen to the podcast on both Apple Podcast and Spotify platforms. Please do follow the show!
